Okzharp is Gervase Gordon of LV’s new project focussing on his South African House influences. Originally from Cape Town and settled in London he brings a unique twist on the genre, mixing it with UK funky, footwork and other styles. He was the essential cog in the hype surrounding LV’s ‘Boomslang’ release and continues to delve further, warping the genre into something new.
Banana Empire fly in from Barcelona bringing with them an insane amount of spanish heat for the dancefloor. BE are Neheun & Suckafish P Jones, forging their collaboration on their love for many bass-heavy tropical styles. Expect Moombahton, Kuduro, Tiki, Bubbling and many everything in between. To celebrate Hanuman’s (Monkey Steak) thirtieth birthday we’ve put together an extra special line up for our next event at Notting Hill Arts Club, April 6th. We’ve also granted his wish to have Richard ‘Sticky’ Forbes headline the party. The legendary UK Garage and bashment producer and DJ is be…st known for discovering and breaking Ms Dynamite with one her toughest tracks, the garage anthem ‘Booo!’. It’s still a heavy hit in the clubs to this day and since then he’s gone on to work with and remix countless chart toppers – Natalie Storm, Kele Le Roc, Aaliyah, Justin and Britney to name a few!

Also joining in the fun is the trombone-wielding, bearded wonder that is Bass Clef. A live set from him that mixes obscure house and dubstep sensibilities with live brass, percussion and effects! A must-see (even if you have seen it already)!

The mighty Monkey Steak always bring the party with their booty-bass rhythms and karnival hype. A special birthday set that is guaranteed to get the dancefloor sizzling with sonic heat!

Keeping the Pollinate signature sound buzzing and the tequila flowing are residents Moroka, Murlo & Rob Pollinate. Promising a heavy selection of all things weirdly tropical and wonderfully bassy and generally creating utter madness! And with an extra long weekend (It’s Good Friday!) to recover, this night is guaranteed to be one to remember!

Holding things down in Dam for several years, they’ve finally found their spiritual home at the Sugar Factory, hosting the city’s premier tropical bass events. DJ Tommi and the Bomb Diggy DJs are also spinning on the night, promising a proper butt-burning night that’ll get you ripe and ready for the summer celebrations that are glistening on the horizon.

To mark the event Murlo has recorded a mix. Blasting his way through a heap of new and unreleased material as well as new bits from friends and fam, this mix is truly fantastique!

They are true crate diggers and we’re expecting a wise selection of tunes that will make you dance until your hipster friends cry with jealousy.

Way back when, August 2011, we did our first show in Notting Hill Arts Club, flew Munchi into the UK invited a crew down to shoot a video for his collaboration with Lakey. They linked up for a grime track, not a genre Munchi’s particularly known for, but Lakey bent his arm and they got the track done. It’s called ‘Not Usually’ and is an essential listen for all UK grime heads looking for something fresh.

At last, the final cut has found the light of day. It perfectly captures what an incredible night we had and highlights Munchi and Lakey as two true talents to keep tabs on in 2012.
