POLLINATE: Notting Hill Arts Club w/ Tropics // Runners // Monkey Steak // Moroka
July 18, 2012No Comments
We return to Notting Hill Arts Club on the 3rd of August for another smashing night of live music and DJs playing a mad variety of genre-blending, heart-pounding tunes. This month includes two special live acts…
The first, Tropics, released a widely-acclaimed album, ‘Parodia Flare’, on the legendary Planet Mu label late last year as well as remixes for M83 and Little Dragon. They’re coming to London with brand new material and a full live set up, to mark a new EP release. Delicate, sun-tinged synths that’ll melt your mind and tear open your soul, fully recommended, don’t miss.
Support comes Leeds four-piece Runners. Somewhat of a super-group, it brings together some of Leeds’ most cherished underground bands and promoters. Runners have been throwing parties, organising tours and releasing vinyl for over a decade, involved with a wide variety of independent music. No strangers to big stages they’ve played Field Day Festival and stole the thunder from Max Tundra, Silver Apples and Gruff Rhys, leading to debut 12″ single ‘Starting Line’ on Dummy Records.
In the DJ booth, special guests Monkey Steak (Steak House) swing by fresh from Womad festival. They bring a powerful Soca frenzy which literally span the audience into the happiest moshpit we’ve ever seen last time they played. Mega excited to have them back. Their brand new mix is as hyped up as you can get…get it!
Pollinate residents Moroka and Rob Pollinate will be spinning until the bitter-sweet end and all will be taking full advantage of the arts club’s happy hour from 7pm-9pm, a worldwide cocktail marathon to kick off the sporting season…
