MOROKA: The Very Best “Yoshua Alikuti”

The Very Best dropped a new video a few weeks back. Along with the news that there’s an album (titled “MTMTMK”) on the way too it’s a welcome return from the group. One of our favourite live acts they’ve spent the past couple of years globetrotting with Vampire Weekend, MIA and nearly every festival you can think of. And the new material is better than ever. The video takes Lil Wayne’s “A Milli” and relocates it in singer Esau Mwamwaya’s hometown of Lilongwe, Malawi, where they recorded the album. And there’s a goat…and frankly goats are ace.

The video is for the lead single, “Yoshua Alikuti”. The backbone of the track is an original production by Moroka and The Very Best team, comprised of Mwamwaya and Johan Hugo (of Radioclit), warp it into one of their very best tracks yet! The Moroka track can be found on his Nectah EP (released in 2011 on Pollinate).

We’re looking forward to more tracks from him in the coming months including a 2nd track on MTMTMK. In the meantime you’ll find him spinning at our monthly residency in Notting Hill Arts Club, 1st Friday of each month, the next – 1st June 2012.
