NEW SIGNING: MOROKA
August 26, 2010No Comments
Introducing Moroka, the newest member of the Pollinate clan and one whose sound fills the void between UK Funky and South African House. The relentless beats, deep, dark synths & ultimately the soul in his music all echo the dance culture from both countries.
Mo’s an all-round Londoner from a large family which brought him up in South Africa, USA and finally settled him back in the big smoke. One of his sisters who broke from the journey is Funafuji, Cape Town’s biggest Dubstep DJ & promoter. Influencing each other they’ve forged a deep love for bass music in all its forms, bouncing tracks over the web from London to Cape Town and back again and playing massive parties in both cities. Moroka’s set at our Brits Abroad launch party last month was top class, racing through big SA hits and ruff funky house shaking the foundations of Korsan’s system. Now his productions are poised, ready to set the scene on fire.
The heavyweight team of residents (Radioclit/Vamanos/AJ Holmes etc) at the Secousse club night have also recently taken Moroka under their wing. Check out the stunning line up for their Carnival show at Notting Hill Arts Club this Sunday!

Expect Moroka’s tunes to drop in autumn/winter. In the meantime there’s a free track you can grab from his soundcloud page and it’s a belter:
